Abram Chasins plays Chopin A collection of Chopin masterpieces by Abram Chasins, Josef Hoffman's pupil. He is also famous as a composer and author of "The Pianist Speaks". Chasins' Chopin is characterized by its masculine and dynamic feel. The large-scale, orthodox virtuoso-type performance inherited from his master is wonderful. His self-produced piano pieces from his SP recording days are preserved in HMV, but LP records of his Chopin performances are extremely rare. A highly recommended album where you can get a good idea of the characteristics of Chasins from the large-scale selection of Chopin's works. All of the songs are magnificent performances, but the "Heroic Polonaise" and "Impromptu No. 2'' are especially worth listening to. 【解説】ヨーゼフ・ホフマンの高弟エイブラム・チェイシンズによるショパン名演集。作曲家でもあり、また「ピアニストは語る」の著作者としても高名。
チェイシンズのショパンは男性的で躍動感があるのが特徴。師匠ゆずりのスケールの大きな正統派ヴィルトゥオーゾ・タイプの演奏が素晴らしい。SP録音時代には自作のピアノ小品がHMVに残されているが、ショパン演奏のLPレコードは極めて希少。選曲されている大規模なショパン作品からもチェイシンズの特性を良く窺い知ることが出来る大推薦盤。特に全曲、堂々とした名演だが「英雄ポロネーズ」や「即興曲第二番」は特に聴き所です。
