A newly released CD presents the artistry of Leo Paul Schramm, a Romantic-era pianist and distinguished pupil of the legendary teacher Theodor Leschetizky. The core of this collection consists of 24 tracks sourced from a valuable 1947 ABC Radio broadcast, vividly capturing Schramm’s natural, intimate performance style.
The repertoire includes well-known masterpieces by Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, and Rachmaninoff, as well as a notable selection of rare piano works by composers from Spain and South America, offering listeners a richly diverse musical experience.
Also featured are historic piano duets with his wife Diny from the 1930s, showcasing Schramm’s wide-ranging musical versatility.
Additionally, the album contains Schramm’s own original works such as Musical Box and Boogie-Woogie Concert Study, highlighting his creative range beyond classical traditions.
Notably, Schramm’s 1924 recordings on Germany’s VOX label, originally issued on 78rpm discs, are available on the previously released CD Pupils of Leschetizky Vol.6, offering valuable insight into his formative years under Leschetizky.

レオ・ポール・シュラム新譜リリース ― ABCラジオ放送録音を中心に紡がれる個性際立つクラシック演奏集
20世紀中葉に活躍したロマン派ピアニストであり、名教師レシェティツキの高弟として知られるレオ・ポール・シュラムの新たなCDがリリースされました。本作の大部分は、1947年のABCラジオによる貴重な放送録音から収録された24曲で構成されており、シュラムの自然体で親密な演奏が生き生きと蘇ります。
収録曲はショパン、リスト、シューマン、ラフマニノフなどのよく知られた名曲はもちろんのこと、スペインや南米の作曲家による珍しいピアノ作品も多数含まれており、幅広い音楽世界を楽しめる点も大きな魅力です。
また、1930年代に妻ディニーとの連弾で録音された歴史的音源も含まれ、シュラムの多彩な音楽性が感じられます。
さらに、《Musical Box》《Boogie-Woogie Concert Study》といった彼自身のオリジナル作品も収録されており、クラシック音楽に留まらないシュラムの創造力を垣間見ることができます。
